A recent message from the lovely people @urbangardenersrep inspired me to post about gardening. I remember how much fun I had playing in our back yard garden as kid- there’s nothing like personally harvesting your own salad. My favorite home-grown goodies were herbs and spices- mint, green onions, basil, etc. To date, I still grow my own basil (unfortunately, I tend to eat it faster than the plant can grow), chives, cilantro and rosemary.
I never considered edible flowers until I stumbled upon these beautiful crêpes (via @realsimple, @graceelkus) and the idea to grow edible flowers at home from @urbangardenersrep and @saragasbarra.
It’s amazing how one tiny ingredient can take something as simple as a salad or crêpe and turn it into something beautiful and unexpected. A food lesson that translates into a life lesson, yes?
